The Cleland Testimonial

Another photograph from Glasgow, this time of The Cleland Testimonial which dates back to the 1840s and commemorates James Cleland, a Superintendent of Public Works in Glasgow in the early 19th Century. I doubt if many Glasgow folk ever see this or, if they did, would have the faintest idea what it was about.

Sky High

I was up in Glasgow to do some shopping, including waterproof over trousers and happened to look up. For just a moment I thought it was the top of a sweep's brush, but then realised it was just nature asserting itself!

Glasgow Humour

Since the weather has been ghastly, I'll post another older photograph in an attempt to cheer us up. Glasgow is renowned for its traffic policeman and obviously someone tried to co-opt this one in. Any time the cone on the head is removed, it mysteriously appears again!

No photo, but .....

I came across this post card, sent in the late 1890s/early 1900s, of a Glasgow building long since vanished. I do remember seeing it, not greatly different from those days, in the 1950s.

Glasgow Inhabitant

I'm sure Carol will forgive me showing a Glasgow photo taken in Kelvingrove Park.
