Since I didn't see any photographic record for Ayrshire, I thought I'd put one up.
It's "+" because I'll add any photo I've taken when the mood takes me.
If you click on a photo, it will enlarge it.

I love lock Eck, I'm sure it's one of the most beautiful in the country and of course I'm not being biased living next to it!
What lovely photos! The first one looks like the setting for a mystery. And the second...the water looks so crystal clear when I enlarged it! So beautiful. Looks like a great place to go to "think"!
Nah, Katya - no thinking on this trip: he was deeved by his rellies!
Beautiful - must look it up when I get back to Scotland!
Uh oh...
my *English* fails me, Chris!
"deeved by his rellies"?
ummmmm....something to do with relatives....
Better get Googling!!!!
Sorlil, "lock Eck"!!!!!!
Chris, It was a good day - no deevin' / deavin' / deivin' to be found.
Katya, You're on the right track. As far as I'm aware, it (any of the three spelling variations) originally meant to deafen.
So, therein lies the source of confusion...
The Scottish dwellers in the Appalachian Region of the US would have used the term "deefened"!
(and, if you believe that, have I got a BRIDGE to sell you!!!!)
And, merci beaucoup for the clarification!!!
oops I swear there's no trace of English blood in me!
