Scrooge-like tendencies...

Excuse the blurring on these photos, but it was a cold night with a bitter wind; I was sitting in my car with the window down but with the engine running; I was using the big camera with a fairly high magnification!

I don't know if I'm being curmudgeonly or not, but for a private residence I find this 'show' excessive. Although, at least, it is not in glorious technicolour. Possibly the owner thinks Christ was a space traveller and is trying to provide landing lights for the next spacecraft! I don't think this has anything to do with Christmas, only with one-upmanship.

Oh I totally agree! (bah humbug etc!). And I dread to think what their next electricity bill will look like!

Ah, you crusty old soul!
(just kidding!)
I keep wanting to go out at night and photograph some of the houses in Canandaigua, but it seems like every time we go out, it is for a specific purpose, and then we have to scurry home...wonder if Santa could give me the gift of MORE time!

Anyway...looks like those "icycle" lights are popular in Scotland, too! Here, we experience them frequently, and by golly, we even have them in various colors as well! The red, white, and green ones might be pretty to see, but remind me of the colors of the Italian flag!

Michelle giggled as she saw the lights reflecting on the road in front of the house. Looks like a rather powerful display. We laughed at your remark about the spacecraft...the star on the rooftop does indeed look like "X marks the spot"!

Does Scotland have an abundance of plastic effegies? (Snowmen, Santas, Candy Canes, etc?) THOSE are ***the*** most repulsive and offensive forms of tasteless decor in my book!

My very favorite decoration is a single white candle in each window with a wreath with a red bow on the outside of the window. I did that for years, but Mark likes more color.(must be the Italian in him! hehehe)

I had better shut up for now...

I'm one who thinks less is more. I have simple pine garland swagged over my front windows with white lights and a pine wreath on each front window lit with white lights as well.

Oh yes, we've many sorts of plastic artefacts as well, all tacky too. The only blessing is there aren't that many of them yet thank goodness, but they seem to be multiplying.

Re the gift of more time, don't you think you'd just fill that up with doing more things and need a further hours injection?

BTW, the star is one of these ones that goes from large outer to small inner, so it seems to be guiding you in!
